A family ranch, built after a stake we couldn't afford to lose.
Memphis Bison Ranch is a first-generation, regenerative-grazing family operation. One herd. One pasture. One family answering the phone.
Restore the animal. Restore the land. Restore the people.
That's not a tagline. It's the order we built the ranch in. If we don't get the animal right, we can't get the land right. If we don't get the land right, we can't feed people food that actually heals.
Raised the way a bison was meant to be raised.
Our herd spends every day of its life on open Colorado pasture. They eat what their bodies evolved to eat — grass, in season, the way it grows. No feedlot, no finishing barn, no corn in the last 90 days to plump up the carcass.
No hormones. No antibiotics. Never. The herd moves on a rotation we plan by hand, so the animals stay healthy and the land gets time to recover between grazings.
If the herd isn't right, the soil isn't right. If the soil isn't right, the meat isn't right. You can't shortcut that chain.
Regenerative grazing writes nutrients back into the soil.
Wild bison built the Great Plains soil by moving in large herds, grazing intensively, and leaving it alone to recover. We run our herd on the same pattern, on a smaller scale, on our own rangeland.
The result is deeper roots, richer topsoil, more biodiversity, and more water staying in the ground. We can show you the soil tests. We can show you the land. Come visit if you want.
We feed our own family what we sell to yours.
Tami and I didn't come to ranching by inheritance. I had a stroke and open-heart surgery. I was an accountant. That's when we started asking what we were really putting into our bodies — and what kind of work we wanted the rest of our lives to be about.
The answer was this ranch. Every order that comes through our door is going on our table too. No middlemen. No mystery. If you pick up the phone and call us, we pick up.
Whole-animal, whole-family.
We use what the animal gives us. Nourishing meat on the inside, ancestral tallow skin care on the outside. The same regenerative source, the same ranch, the same honest process.
