Bison Bone Broth is a flavorful and nutrient-rich elixir that has been used for centuries to promote optimal health. Made from the meat and bones of our free-range and grass-fed bison, this broth is a powerhouse of essential nutrients that include collagen, gelatin, amino acids, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. These nutrients are vital for maintaining healthy bones, joints, skin, and nails, as well as supporting electrolyte balance in the body.
This recipe for Simple Bison Bone Broth could not be any easier. It uses three basic ingredients, is made with an Instant Pot, and it is ready in as little as two hours. If you don’t have a pressure cooker, a slow cooker works just as well. It’s just, uhm, slower!
1. It’s Nutritious: Bison bone broth is packed with nutrients like collagen, gelatin, and amino acids that are essential for healthy bones, skin, and nails. It’s also rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which are important for maintaining healthy electrolyte balances in the body. You will also have control over the amount of sodium.
2. It’s Easy to Make: Making your own bison bone broth is easy and cost-effective. All you need is a pressure cooker or slow cooker. We start with either arm roast or Osso Buco because they add additional flavor. Simply add the meat, water, and sea salt. If you have knuckle bones, add them. The result will have even more collagen.
3. It’s Delicious: Bison bone broth has a rich, savory flavor that makes it a great addition to soups, stews, and other dishes. You can also drink it on its own as a warm and comforting beverage.
4. It’s Sustainable: By making your own bison bone broth, you’re taking advantage of a sustainable source of nutrition. Bison are grass-fed and free-range, which means that they’re not subjected to the same environmental and ethical concerns as factory-farmed animals.
5. It’s Cost-Effective: Making your own bison bone broth is much cheaper than buying pre-made broth from the store. You can use inexpensive cuts of bison bones to make a nutrient-dense broth that will last for days. The resulting broth is a delicious and versatile addition to your diet. Its savory and rich taste makes it a perfect ingredient in soups, stews, and other dishes. You can also enjoy it on its own as a comforting and warm beverage.
Choosing bison bone broth over pre-made broth from the store is a sustainable and ethical choice. Bison are raised in a natural environment without the use of antibiotics or hormones, making them a healthier and more humane source of nutrition. Additionally, making your own broth is a cost-effective alternative to buying pre-made broth, as you can use inexpensive cuts of bison bones to make a large batch of broth that will last for days.
Bison Bone Broth is a delicious, nutritious, sustainable, and cost-effective way to support your health. Its numerous benefits make it a valuable addition to any diet, whether you’re looking to improve your joint health, nourish your skin and nails, or simply enjoy a warm and comforting beverage.

This is one of the simplest recipes ever. It uses three ingredients: a bone-in bison roast, water and sea salt.

Ingredients
2 pound Bison Arm Roast
2 teaspoons Sea Salt
Water
Directions
Cooking
Add the frozen roast to the instant pot.
Add sea salt
Add water to just cover the roast
Cook on the Meat setting or High Pressure for two hours.
Finish
Remove the bones and the meat
Store the Bone Broth in canning jars in the refrigerator.
Recipe Note
- Run water on the frozen package to assist in removing the roast.
- Bison Osso Bucu, also known as Soup Bones, works great in this recipe.
- The left over meat is great in other recipes. Try tacos or burritos!
- Adjust the amount of sea salt to your taste. We recommend starting with 1 teaspoon of sea salt per pound of meat.
- If you do not have and Instant Pot or pressure cooker a slow cooker works great. Cook on low for 12+ hours.
